Resident Evil 8 Village, recently got a trailer showing us a dark snowy landscape with many characters and werewolvs.

We start off in the trailer seeing this, who's story is coming to a close? Are we talking about Ethan or Chris? What is this story about and how is it connected with the series?

Chris looks to be wearing the same outfit Wesker wore in Resident Evil 4 and Umbrella Chronicles, Sonny also said it looks like his outfit from Resident Evil 6 as well. - Is this outfit part of his new behavior of being a dark soul?

The way Chris kills off the woman, many thinking it is Mia, is not really part of Chris and his character. It could be a nightmare or it could be that Chris is no longer being reasonable anymore and is tired of all the fighting. Could he be changing to the ways of Leon's behavior we saw in Vendetta?

We also get a woman (Mia maybe) teling us a story, now what if that story is a nightmare Ethan dreams? We don't really know but what if Mia and Ethan had a baby and Mia's work company found out and attacks or even Blue Umbrella in order to steal away their baby?

We do get scenes with the baby in the trailer.

What it is Ethan and Mia's baby?

Moving on we see creatures like Werewolves...

And then a guy who looks to be Van Helsing.

Some others say he looks like other characters from different games based on his apperance, some say he could be Merchant, others say Carlos making a return. We really don't know anything about this character.

We then see a witch in the village and then meeting what looks to be the main evil characters, a woman and three other women.

In the trailer we saw that they have powers or abilities for a brief moment, looked like bugs perhaps?

This trailer/game certainly has a lot of influences from Van Helsing, Devil May Cry, Outlast 2, and a few others into the mix.

I'm really leaning toward the baby being an important character of the story but who knows. What if this cult/group wanted the baby for something?

What are the thoughts you all have?

There could be some connections with The Connections we got from Resident Evil 7. Mia was cured by Ethan but Ethan is still a carrier and is possibly under protection but was discovered?

Someone pointed out the women from the above image are drinking Ethan's blood since he's infected. If that's the case and the lady in the hat isn't kissing his hand, what does it mean? Is this place The Connections testing grounds?

Supposedly this image is a 'key art' that Capcom was considering not showing. What do you think it means? Does it have to deal with the E-Type testing grounds? The Connections? The baby we saw in the trailer?

I think the fine folks of Resident Evil are getting more of their act together, and am really looking forward to what comes about with RE8! Chris Redfield looks like the Chris we all know and love, Umbrella is making a sorta comeback, Ethan doesn't suffer the fate of those one-and-done protagonists like Ark Thompson, Fong Ling, Billy Coen, etc. If the rumors about those were-thingies were true, they maybe we'll see Natalia Korda again if THOSE rumors were rumor. Then again, that's wishful thinking. Feeling optimistic

I'm liking what we have seen so far and looking forward to more being shown down the line!
I do agree with Sonny that Chris' outfit does look similar to his RE6 outfit he wore in the bar scene and ending.
BSAArklay had this to share about that image

Someone else had this theory as well
"It's an Umbrella logo as a witchcraft symbol. Remove the fetus, and you have a circle (or octagon) divided into eight parts. Instead of Red-White-Red-White, it's Bird Wing-Twigs-Bird Wing-Twigs."

So this is all fascinating to start speculating on. I got to watch the trailer some more this weekend and see what else I can spot!

I have to say... I am all in on Village. Yes, from the outside it looks like a significant departure from classic RE in some places, but I can recall thinking the same thing about RE7 and I loved it (even if I was a little late to the party). Expanding on the world and tone that RE7 brought? All in. A dark and brooding Chris having a character moment that isn't All-American-Hero? All in. Let's do this thing.

Curious about this too. A possible crests puzzle? The sun and moon one very reminscent of RE1. Can't make out the one further back tho. Maybe not a puzzle, more like a statue piece or something.

Here is a theory I posted over at biohaze, is kind of long and to be fair more official info is still needed to flesh out who is who and th e possible "endgame" but it handles the main points I guess:

Maybe RE 8 will tell us how Spencer kidnapped a girl (remember that strange local tale from this trailer right at the initial scene?) and this girl probably had special blood... Most likely this little girl from the tale is none other than Alex Wesker? Or possibly who was kidnapped was the girl´s mother? Looking back, the mother being kidnapped would make a lot of sense.

My theory is as follows (this is only my assumptions of how it could end up explaining Wesker Children so i don´t think this will be entirely how i put it here, but there is a small chance i end up getting some of it right, so if you don´t like theorizing don´t read further than here otherwise if you are into some speculations let´s delve into it...

there is a secret at this village, the Castle must have a very special thing to it (maybe a type of element with special properties) so some people that are born within it over the years displayed special "gifts". Perhaps with each generation the powers have diminished a bit, but still gave them a special blood that usually prevents them from getting sick and maybe gives then a bit higher intellect too.

During 1959 Someone from Spencer family happens to visit and stay in the castle a bit, has a forbidden romance with one the maids who live there (but she is kind of already a mistress to the count from that castle, and has already a child from that "village chief"). The maid gets pregnant but this time the child is from that Spencer dude, the count from the castle finds out and kills the man, Lord Spencer finds out later on (maybe a few months later the Lord is suspicious for not hearing news of what happened with this man of his family, perhaps the one that was killed was in fact, his nephew) and Ozwell gets the impression from a few rumors that this people might have strange tales of gifted individuals, so Lord spencer sends some troops to kidnap the maid in the forest when she is with her other small girl (but remember the maid is still pregnant with the child of spencer bloodline too). The maid surname was Wesker. The little girl is found by the witch (actually her grandmother) and returned to live with the count in the castle.

Spencer meets the castle maid, after a while she delivers the baby, this now is 1960 Lord Spencer raises the child as his own, he names her Alex W., he lies and tells her both their parents died in an accident.

Meanwhile Spencer secretly mantains Alex´s mom alive, he sees the blood of that family is truly special enough for his plans of using it with the progenitor virus, its later time to extract her eggs and from that he can create 12 other individuals (he already has Alex so in total they are 13) these would be his children.

Each of his children got sperm donors that are in fact people from Spencer´s cabal, his associates, but Albert Wesker is conceived with sperm from a special family that are old friends with Spencer, the french Fabron family. The children are raised as normal parts of these families from those associates. Altough this is kept a secret from the other 2 Umbrella founders, James Marcus and Edward Ashford.

Spencer cabal are members of his secret society, and eventually the babies are born so that´s circa 1967 (Albert is among them).

Alex is raised alongside another boy also from that family called Daniel Fabron. (Daniel is just a couple years younger than her)

Later Daniel Fabron is completing 17 years old starts snooping around about Alex´s (and his small brother Albert) origins, Daniel becomes suspicious because Spencer had been very strict about not letting Albert visit the Spencer family too much, and only Daniel was allowed to talk to Alex, perhaps because since the beginning Spencer planned to seed curiosity deep into Albert Wesker´s mind about all this old man wealth and secrets.

Spencer is told about this but he has already groomed Alex to become his right-hand in his plans of world conquest, she is a very bright teenager now and Spencer starts telling her about her special blood and that she is half spencer and half wesker so she has to command alongside Spencer in the new world, Spencer entrust her with files about all the Wesker children, she has to monitor all of them from a distance.

The plans start to unfold and they see that the new boy from Fabron´s family is taken to North America, from now Spencer considers him the most gifted of this other 12 children and will take him to be one of the chief Researcher in the Arklay Mountains Umbrella Compound.

in this scenario, the little girl from the RE 8 local tale and the woman seen with the white dress with her other associates (the one that looks a lot like Alex Wesker) are one and the same and she is in fact, Alex´s half-sister and - the maid´s daughter with the count.

Later on when Alex apparently dies (during Revelations 2) Daniel Fabron goes to Romania (he was snooping around trying to find Alex origins remember?) and he joins Alex half-sister and gives her the research he has so they create the Connections to stablish their own empire from what they gathered, possibly interested now in the child of Ethan Winters and Mia (i´m not sure if Albert and Fabron were already experimenting with the Mold before, its possible too that Albert Wesker submitted part of the money and equipments he got with his HCF to Fabron´s Connections mold research, and that probably happened back when Wesker was still somewhat unaware of Lord Spencer´s whole plan, since when it got to that point Albert put all his chips on the Ouroboros project and his other partner Excella.

The part about the baby and how Chris connects to this though i haven´t pieced much.

Maybe he realises that Fabron wants Mia and the baby so they can create an army of new W children or he is there because he was manipulated to provide the baby to these villains?

and that is all i have theorized so far... if you enjoyed please comment and see if you have other insights that might align with the theory or if you have another theory that´s cooler than this one.

Curious about this too. A possible crests puzzle? The sun and moon one very reminscent of RE1. Can't make out the one further back tho. Maybe not a puzzle, more like a statue piece or something.

That kind of makes me think of how in all RE games these decors and crests have occult or just a dark and sober designs, actually part of RE since is first game, old paintings, and that gothic aesthetic, the mansions, castles, etcetera. Which is why I really can't understand why some so called fans get upset and say that 8 is going too much occult... The point is that the fans backlash probably is connected to their fear of RE 8 becoming the last game of this franchise... conciously or unconsciously. Put some logic into all this, there is talk that this is Chris last story and they would most likely try to tie all the Umbrella knots left unresolved with a very dark and apocalyptic story (I'm still sorting the clues and can't say if this means Chris is dying or simply he will get through this last adventure with some serious injuries so he will basically need to retire after RE 8). One of the trailer images that raised my eyebrows I guess was one of what looked like the castle gates where we see a demon holding what might be something and looks like a child, maybe swallowing a baby? To me this is completely reference to ritual sacrifice... I must say that most of the time Mr. Redfield is playing a protagonist role for games of the series, serious global threaths are on the surface and those that are revealing Umbrellas darkest secrets. So how they could send him out with a bang? With a storyline about Awakening the Ultimate Evil, so certainly will he be up to the task? It might prove quite demanding, even for him.

Here are the Famitsu scans if anyone is interested. The most interesting information revealed is that the game ends the story started in RE7, which could be referring to Blue Umbrella, The Connections or Ethan.

Thank you for sharing this with everyone, it's pretty interesting and makes me curious what they'll have to share with us in August, hopefully it won't spoil too much information as I always enjoyed learning the story through the game and not via revealed everything in trailer kind of thing.
